We were hacked!
That's right. Our website was compromised and hacked by an obscure Turkish group. Apparently there are many such groups out there, hell bent on creating chaos where none existed. To what end? Our website is a very simple and benign informational site which shares band content and schedules. Small and obscure relative to the great digital highway we call the internet. And yet, some dumbass thought it was a good idea to disrupt the efforts of simple, honest folks - for what. Amusement? Boredom? Anger? Makes no sense.
Websites can be fixed. It took a day to get everything back in order so no big deal really. But the bigger concern is that hacking occurs 24/7 at a universally large and alarming rate. Personal data and family information is out there in the digital domain, waiting for some Turkish dumbass to stumble into an unsecured area and take it. Social networking is great for those who have embraced it, but there's a price that comes with awesome technologies. Please be aware and safe.
